Moving to Portfoliobox 4

About the process

If you have an existing website on Portfoliobox 2 or Portfoliobox 3 and want to switch to Portfoliobox 4, you will need to create a new website and rebuild it from scratch. Automatic migration is not available. We will then move your domain name to your new website.

What happens to your existing website?
Your old website will remain fully accessible while you build your new one. It will not be deleted automatically. Once you are ready to switch, you can cancel your old subscription and transfer your domain to the new site.

What's the price?
You will need an active subscription on your new site. You can check our pricing page to learn more about available plans. Remember to cancel your Portfoliobox 2 or 3 subscription once your new site is live to avoid being charged for both.

Before you build your new website

Think about your page titles & URLs
If you want to keep the same URL structure, make sure the pages you create on your new website have the same titles and URLs as on your current website. This will prevent pages already indexed in search engines from pointing to broken links once your new site is live.

How to move: step-by-step

Step 1: Create your new website

Log in to your Portfoliobox Dashboard and click Create new website.
Build your new website from scratch.

Step 2: Upgrade your new website

When your new website is ready, upgrade it to a paid plan — but do not publish it yet.

In your admin panel, click Upgrade.
Choose a plan that fits your needs. Note that if you wish to transfer a custom domain name, you must select at least the Personal annual plan.

Step 3: Move your domain

Contact support with your registered email address and domain name, and we will manually transfer the domain to your new website. This applies whether you have a portfoliobox.net domain, a custom domain registered through us, or a custom domain registered elsewhere.

Step 4: Delete your old website

Once your new website is live, delete your old website or cancel its subscription.

After publishing your new website

Add your Google Analytics code again
Since your new website is a completely new account, you will need to add your Google Analytics tracking code to it after publishing. Your old website will remain accessible until you cancel its subscription or delete it, but it's important to update the connection to Google Analytics as soon as your new site is live.
