Change the URL of a page

Every page on your portfolio website has its own URL (Uniform Resource Locator), which forms the web address visitors use to access that page. Understanding and customising your URLs can help make your artist portfolio, photographer website, or designer portfolio more professional and easier to navigate.

What is a URL?

A URL (Universal Resource Locator) is the complete address of a web page, including your domain name and the page path.

What is an url

By default, the URL for a page in Portfoliobox is automatically generated from its title. For example, if your page title is “About,” your URL will look like: www.yourdomain.com/about

When you edit the URL of a page in your Portfoliobox website, you’re changing the part that comes after the last “/” in your domain, in this example, the word “about.”

Customising URLs can make your pages easier to find, more relevant for search engines, and cleaner when shared online.

Change the URL of your page

To edit the URL of a page in your Portfoliobox admin panel:

  1. Click on Edit in the top-left corner
  2. Select the option Your Pages, under Edit Pages
  3. Hover over your page and click Settings
  4. In the URL field, write the new URL.
  5. Click on Change Url.
  6. Confirm.

Your new URL will update instantly and become the new address for that page on your portfolio website.

💡 Tip: Keep URLs short, simple, and relevant to the page content, for example, use “/contact” or “/gallery” instead of long or complex names.
