When you connect your own domain to your Portfoliobox website, you might run into the issues listed below:
The domain redirects to a 404 Portfoliobox page
When this happens, the domain itself is appropriately configured, but it is not connected to your Portfoliobox account. Please contact our support team if you encounter any issues.
Your domain generates a loop of www
If you’re seeing something like “www.www.www” on your domain, it usually means you’ve set up two A-records—one for the root (example.com) and one for the “www” subdomain. To fix this:
- Delete the A-record for “www” (leave only the A-record for your root domain).
- Create a CNAME record for “www” that points to home.portfolioboxdns.com (as explained in this guide).
That change will stop the infinite “www.www.www” loop. If the issue persists after you’ve completed these steps, please contact our support team, and we’ll be happy to investigate further.
A blank page displays
A blank page is usually displayed when you try creating a masked redirection from your domain to your account URL. Portfoliobox blocks masked redirection, so you must configure your domain correctly by following this guide.
If your domain still doesn't work after checking this guide, let us know, and we'll be happy to look at your DNS settings.
"The website was not found. Create your own online portfolio website."
If the message "The website was not found. Create your own online portfolio website." displays, you need to confirm the configuration of your domain name in the admin panel.
- In your Portfoliobox admin panel, click on See Live.
- Confirm the configuration.
Congratulations, your website is now published!
