Authentication Methods: verification code and password

Security is a top priority on Portfoliobox, and certain actions in your portfolio website Dashboard require authentication. You can authenticate these actions using your password or a temporary Verification Code (also called a One-Time Password or OTP) sent to your email.

In this article, we'll explain when and how to use these authentication methods for specific actions within the Dashboard.

Actions Requiring Authentication

  • Change Email Address
  • Change or Remove Password
  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
  • Deleting a Website
  • Deleting Your Account

How Verification Code Works

  • Verification Codes are temporary and unique codes generated for a single-use purpose.
  • These codes are sent to your registered email address.
  • You'll receive the Verification Code and enter it in the designated field during the authentication process.
  • For security reasons, the Verification Code expires after a short period, so be sure to use it as soon as possible.

Security and Best Practices

  • Keep your password and Verification Codes confidential. Please do not share them with anyone.
  • Use strong, unique passwords and consider using a password manager to keep them secure.
