Before uploading images to your portfolio, prepare them for both quality and performance. Well-prepared images help your photography website load faster, look professional, and display correctly on all devices.
Below are the image requirements and best practices for Portfoliobox.
Supported image formats and limits
Portfoliobox supports the following image formats:
- PNG
- JPG and JPEG
- GIF
- SVG
- WebP
- HEIC and HEIF
Image upload limits
- Maximum file size: 24 MB
- Colour space: sRGB
- Colour profiles are preserved after upload
Image colour space
Always use the sRGB colour space before uploading images. sRGB is the standard for web browsers and ensures consistent colours across screens.
If you use Photoshop, go to File, then Save for Web. This converts the image to sRGB and prepares it for online use.
Image colour profile
If your image includes a colour profile, it will be preserved after upload. This helps maintain colour accuracy in your portfolio.
Image size and file size
Image file size is measured in kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB), or gigabytes (GB). File size depends on pixel dimensions and file format.
Different formats use different compression methods. A JPEG, PNG, or WebP image can have very different file sizes even if the pixel dimensions are the same.
The maximum file size for a single image upload is 24 MB.
For best performance, avoid uploading images that are much larger than needed. Smaller files load faster and improve the experience for visitors on your portfolio website.
Automatic WebP image processing
All images uploaded to your portfolio are automatically converted to WebP. WebP creates smaller file sizes without reducing visible image quality. This helps your portfolio website load faster and perform better on all devices. You do not need to convert images yourself before uploading. You can upload supported formats as usual, and the system will handle the conversion for you.
Image quota
The number of images you can upload depends on your Portfoliobox plan. Each plan includes a specific image quota.
You can check your current usage and limits by going to Settings, then Subscriptions. You can also compare plans on the pricing page.
Preparing your images correctly helps your portfolio look sharp, load quickly, and present your work exactly as intended.
