Irini Folerou is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works between London and Athens. Her work explores the materiality of bodily and mental experiences, drawing connections between inner emotion and external reality. Deeply personal yet universally resonant, her art transforms memory, trauma, and time into visual language; one that invites reflection on the fragile balance between intimacy and distance, confinement and freedom.

Folerou’s projects often stem from autobiographical inquiry. Through photography, installation, and moving image, she investigates how emotional and psychological landscapes take form in the physical world. Her recurring themes, memory, nostalgia, identity, and isolation, resonate throughout each series, from quiet, introspective portraits to immersive installations. In recent works, she examines the tension between personal limits and social boundaries, opening a dialogue between the individual and the collective experience.
Her online portfolio presents a thoughtful categorisation of her practice across Installations, photography, and mixed media, as well as videos, offering viewers an intimate journey through her evolving creative expression. Each piece, whether tactile or ephemeral, feels like an act of remembrance; a poetic negotiation between the body, time, and space.

Beyond her own practice, Irini Folerou is the founder of The House with the Mill – Art Residency, a nonprofit organisation supporting artists and cultural exchange on the Greek island of Andros. This initiative reflects her belief in art as a means of dialogue, growth, and community building.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at The Tabernacle Gallery in London, Ioannis Glynos Cultural Centre in Andros, and Video Art Miden in Greece. Through her exhibitions and projects, Folerou continues to shape a space where the personal becomes political and the invisible becomes seen. This November, her work will be featured in Confluence — Where Arts Meet, a collective exhibition in Paris celebrating diverse contemporary voices in art and design.
