Adding a client login to your website

Give your clients private access to your portfolio

Looking for a way to give clients secure access to private content on your portfolio website? With Portfoliobox, you can easily add a “client login” using a password-protected page—no coding or third-party tools needed. It’s a simple way to share personalised content with each client, whether you’re a photographer, designer, illustrator or a multidisciplinary creative.

How password-protected pages work

A password-protected page is only accessible by entering a password. It won’t appear in your website’s navigation or be indexed by Google, which means it stays private between you and your client. You can design it like any other page on your portfolio, combining multiple sections to create a tailored experience.

Here’s what you can include:

  • A gallery to display images from a recent photoshoot or design project
  • A video or audio embed for showcasing media content
  • A text block to provide background information, project notes, or next steps
  • A contact form so your client can reach out directly
  • An E-commerce section to sell prints, digital files, or service packages
  • A FAQ section to answer common client questions or explain deliverables
  • An integration or widget, such as:
    • Calendly, Acuity to let clients book a meeting or review session
    • Typeform, for collecting feedback or approvals
    • Marvel, Figma, Codepen, or other tools to share prototypes and collaborative workspaces
    • and more

If you work with similar types of projects, you can also duplicate password-protected pages—saving time and ensuring consistency. This is especially useful if you want to reuse the same structure for different clients but with unique content.

For example, a photographer could duplicate a client delivery layout that includes a gallery, pricing section, and contact form. A designer might include a Figma embed, project notes, and a booking calendar. Everything stays secure and neatly organised in one place.

Examples of how to use password-protected pages

Photographers

Create a private gallery for each client with high-resolution images and optional download buttons. Add a contact form for feedback or requests, and a store section where clients can purchase additional prints or albums. You might also include an FAQ section to answer common questions about usage rights or delivery timelines. Want to schedule a review call? Embed a Calendly widget so clients can book a time directly on the page.

Designers

Use a password-protected page to present branding mockups or web design drafts. Embed a Figma prototype or link a Marvel board so clients can view and comment on designs in progress. Include a text section with notes or context, a Typeform survey for collecting structured feedback, and an FAQ to clarify your process or timelines. If you offer tiered packages, add a pricing section and a store module for easy upgrades.

Musicians or Videographers

Upload previews, demos, or final cuts directly to the page with embedded audio or video players (e.g. from Vimeo, YouTube, SoundCloud or Spotify). Use a text section to outline production notes or licensing options. Add a contact form or a Typeform feedback form, and an FAQ to clarify rights or delivery. For those selling soundtracks or exclusive content, use the e-commerce element to sell downloadable files.

Event Planners or Creative Studios

Set up a personalised project portal for each client. Include a mood board gallery, a timeline or schedule, and key documents like contracts or checklists in text sections or file links. Add a contact form, embed a Calendly link for meeting bookings, and display service options or packages with pricing. You can also embed interactive tools or feedback forms to make collaboration smoother.

Bonus tip

If you use a consistent structure across clients (for example: gallery → project brief → contact), you can duplicate the password-protected page and update the content per client. It’s a time-saving way to keep things organised while offering a polished and professional client experience.

How to set it up

  1. Go to "Edit"
  2. Select "Your Password-Protected Pages"
  3. Click "Add Protected Page"
  4. Add your preferred sections: gallery, text, contact, store, etc.
  5. In the page settings, enable password protection and set a password
  6. Share the password (and link) with your client

It’s that easy—and your client gets a smooth, branded experience right inside your portfolio website.
